Important Information

In order for you to receive a Current Account, debit card or overdraft, you must be one of our members and resident in the Republic of Ireland. If you are 16 or 17 years of age, we require the consent of your parent or guardian for you to open an account. Terms and conditions apply.

Your proof of identity documents (Photo ID and Proof of Address) must be up to date prior to approval.

Death Benefit Insurance Scheme

Death Benefit Insurance (DBI) is a group policy that is available to eligible members to provide a modest amount of life insurance. DBI provides cover for a deceased member’s family to offset bereavement expenses. The cost of this insurance is paid by the member.

Life Savings Insurance

This is an insurance cover provided free by Dubco for its members as an additional incentive for them to build up their shares and as a death benefit for their families. Subject to terms and conditions the amount of insurance payable is in proportion to the amount of shares (up to a maximum of €13,000) a member had at certain ages. For Example:

  • Shares lodged between 0 months & 6 months – 25% cover
  • Shares lodged between 6 months & 55th birthday – 100% cover
  • Shares lodged between 55th & 60th birthday – 75% cover
  • Shares lodged between 60th & 65th birthday – 50% cover
  • Shares lodged between 65th & 70th birthday – 25% cover

Once earned the insurance remains in place provided the shares are not withdrawn, subject to the pre-existing condition limitation (set out below). On the death of a member Dubco will transfer the proceeds of the Life Savings insurance claim to the nominee (or next of kin if no nomination exists) in addition to the savings in the nominating member’s account(s).

Loan Protection Insurance

Loan protection cover is provided by Dubco at no direct cost to members and will discharge an eligible member’s loan liability existing at the time of their death provided that the member met certain terms and conditions at the time of loan issue. These terms and conditions can be summarised as follows:

For a member to qualify for loan protection cover when applying to take out a loan the member must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Working members (including unemployed members capable of working)
  • Homemakers (carrying on the normal activities of a homemaker)
  • Retired members (other than where retirement was due to ill health and member remains unfit for work)

If a member does not fit into one of the above categories then the loan protection cover will be limited to a maximum of €5,000.

For qualifying members, the maximum cover is €75,000 per member up to the age of 69 and €30,000 for members aged between 70 and 79. All cover (including the automatic cover) ceases at age 80.

Loan protection insurance is subject to a pre-existing condition limitation, as set out below

Pre-existing Condition Limitation

If a member dies within 6 months of drawing down a loan, and had been diagnosed or was being treated for a medical condition within the 6 months prior to the loan draw down, no loan protection insurance will be paid. This only applies if the member actually dies of the condition diagnosed and only applies to the amount drawn down in the pre condition period.

Average saving of 2-3 cent per litre is based on Circle K station pump prices throughout the Republic of Ireland (ROI).
